Cisco configure static route
Cisco implements the four classes of static routes for internal and external network that are used in different networking devices. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages and you have to carefully choose the one that is best suitable for your needs. Here are the four classes of static routes used by Cisco switches: Static Route – This is the first most common route that you will encounter when you connect with a Cisco hardware. It is used for internal network in the same manner as for external network.
All the devices that are behind this route will be able to get the specific route that is specified by the primary router. Static route is commonly used when you are connecting to a local area network (LAN). The benefit is that there is a lower possibility of interference from other wireless devices. The major disadvantage of this route is that it does not allow for the rapid change of addresses. In the worst case scenario, if the link is not static then the secondary router that is not part of the main router will be used as the target address.
Shared-Made – This is another commonly used route. The difference between the two is that the shared-code route is directly associated with the use of one IP address. It is used on local area networks, where the LANs are configured with different IP addresses. It allows the clients to establish a connection with the devices that they want to use the connection with. The major advantage here is that clients can establish connection with other devices that are configured with the same IP address as theirs without having to suffer of having their connectivity to the World Wide Web affected.

Another advantage of this static route is that clients will not need to configure their hardware and their IP addresses. This means that they will have the same setup as what they would have if they had used the normal WAN route. The major disadvantage is that it will only affect the routing of the normal traffic and not the non-local or temporary traffic such as VoIP or web proxy. If the network adapter uses an IP address that has not been configured, the static route will not affect the connection or any other traffic that the device might have.
Unassigned-lane – This is a type of portable route where the client uses the IP address of the source machine instead of the ones that are specified in the Local Protocol List. It is usually used on internal networks that are behind firewalls. A firewall will only allow the inbound traffic and not the outgoing traffic from the different networks.
All the other types are basically treated the same way. There are some differences though with regards to the gateway IP and the other inbound routes. The first type is the inbound route while the other is the outbound route. The inbound route is used for the inbound traffic such as the data and the normal traffic such as video. With the outbound route, it is used for the temporary traffic such as the proxy and the reset/power flows.
Static route can be used by a variety of devices. For instance, it can be used by the wireless routers to connect to different networks. They will use the same IP address for all the networks and they do not need to forward the outgoing traffic from their computers. They will also use the same SSID for all the computers that they connect to the network.
There are a number of reasons why companies try to configure a static route with Cisco switches. Some of the reasons may be related to the cost that they will incur for this feature. Others may be related to security and other issues.
