Have you recently discovered that your Cisco router has suddenly gone down and you are unable to access the internet? If so, then you have come to the right place. In this article I will show you how to reset the password on your Cisco firewall.

Most modern routers use exactly the same default IP addresses, so you should check your Default Cisco password database to see if you might have used a different username and password. To do this, first login as administrator to the administrative panel of your router. Once you’re in there, go to the Network icon and then click the port speed icon. You should see the three dotted IP address with a colon on the left.

Double click the wan port. A box should be displayed where you will enter the IP address of your local area network (LAN). Leave all three wan ports empty and click ok. It should now be possible to enter in the default IP address of your router.

Another way is to use an online wireless networking utility. With such utilities, you will be able to configure a wireless router for your home network and then assign the same to your PC or laptop. You can use this option if you want to have more than one wireless router. These utilities will automatically assign the default IP address to all the wireless routers in your home network. This means that when you enter in the IP of your new wireless router, your old wireless router login details are given to your new router and this allows you to log on to the web from any of your computers that are connected to the same network as where you are.

Before saving your login details, click on the saved passwords button. You will find three tabs; password, advanced password and the default admin username and password. You should change your administrator password and save your settings. Your router may ask you to set a new admin username and password and then you have to create this new user name and save your settings again.

By following these simple steps, you will be able to connect to your office network regardless of whether the IP address you are using is different from the IP address of the main router. However, it is important to note that the second router does not need an IP address to access your work network as long as there is an Ethernet port present in the main router. By default, the second router receives its IP address from the main router and you can see the IP address from the internet connection you are using.

After you have saved your login details, log into the router settings. There you will find the Wireless connection Setup or the WISP option. If your modem is configured with WAP then click on the WAN setup and then follow the prompts.

Now, type the IP address of the main router (the one that is listed as the CWD on the console) and then follow the prompts. It is a good idea to enter the default gateway and also the names of the network interfaces. The Wlan configuration command prompt will ask for some information about the SSID and the password. When prompted, type the WPA key in the supplied text box and then press enter. The following step is the Wlan setup. You will find an SSID on the wireless devices and then you need to enter the same in the SSID field in the Wlan configuration command prompt and then press enter.

When you are done, reboot the system. Once the reboot is completed, check the login details of the wireless devices. You can verify whether they are working or not by looking at the IP address of the displayed page. If all these steps are followed, then you do not have to worry about the default gateway being changed, the WEP password being lost or the network devices getting infected with any viruses.
