How to connect your device to the internet? Just launch your browser, and click “My Computer”. Then click on the “Network” tab. You will see your entire network configuration in the list of devices. Look for the icon that says “Local Area Connection” and you will see a green check mark.
Check the “etherport” option to test your connection. If you are able to successfully connect, you will see a green check mark next to the IP address. If you are not able to connect, it means that your default login details (usually you’re the administrator of this machine) are wrong. In this case, you need to fix these problems.
To successfully connect to the internet, you will need to enter the IP address of the computer where you want to make it appear on your local network. The “inet” field will be shown as well. You have two options for entering the IP address: normally, you can click “enter” when you are prompted; or you can click “save” to modify your settings. Note that you will see a new page after clicking “save” in step 2. This step may cause some problems with your router settings page, so I suggest that you save this page before continuing.
After clicking “save”, you will get a page with your wireless router details. Make sure that you enter the details exactly the way you want them, including the area code. This step is very important, especially if you are not sure what you are doing. If you accidentally reset your wi-fi device or wireless router, you have to go back to step 1 and redo the whole process again!
Now that you have your details, you have to find the login for the router. You can do this by clicking on “My Computer” in the Start Menu, then clicking the Control Panel icon. Once you’re in the control panel, you should see a section called “Network” along with your username and password, which should be the default if you have an ordinary Windows machine.
Double-click the username and password to log into your router. Usually, your username will be “admin” or “root”. You will see a green background, with a logo of your choosing. You have now entered your default username and password, which are also shown on your computer.
Your router is now ready to accept new connections, which it normally does when you connect to the Internet. Open your Internet browser and connect to the Internet. You will see a page similar to the one below. This is the “main” page of your wireless router, where you can see all your settings, such as your login details, the SSID (wireless router’s name), the frequency and the encryption settings. You may need to reset these to their default settings if you reset the password of your wireless router.
At this point, your router may require you to enter a login password, which usually prompts for a complex password consisting of letters, digits, and symbols. There are some cases where you may not be able to enter the router password after you have finished entering it. In these cases, you should try to reset the setting to its default value, then re-enter your router password to log in. If everything is working fine, you can proceed to test everything again. Hopefully, that should do the trick and you will no longer need to reset the password of your wireless router.
The next thing you need to do when trying to reset spectrum router password is to find your username and password. Usually, you will be prompted with a username and password prompt every time you connect to the Internet, so you will not have to enter those values again. To find your username and password, log onto the web admin interface of your router (usually by clicking the big “Logo” icon in the lower right corner of your screen). Then click on “Usernames”, and you will see a list of the names or user names you have registered with your wireless router. You will then see the password prompt.
If your username and password are not available, you may have to create them before you can log into the router. To do this, go to the “Netgear Administration” page and then click on “NAS Tools”. Now, click on “uci_configure_router2k(Setup)” and follow the prompts. Once you have done that, you will be able to login as “arris” on the spectrum internet connection you are using, which should be a wireless connection.
If you are unable to login as arris, you should contact your wireless router’s manufacturer for instructions. If you are still having trouble getting online despite these troubleshooting steps, you should consider purchasing an affordable external hard-wired Ethernet NIC or access point. These are often times referred to as WAN Optimizers, since they assist in creating a mesh network that is able to provide a wireless connection in the place where you would have otherwise not been able to. These types of routers are generally more expensive than other models, but you will receive faster upload and download speeds and will be able to connect to the internet in more locations than before.
